Another week goes by and I always like to sit down at my computer and think “what have I done over the last couple of weeks?”
Exercise classes, a park run, a little house work (some people seem to think I don’t do any) some teaching and made a couple of new quilts and I guess loads of other things
I really enjoy teaching my regular classes at The Quilt Cabin in Hebden Bridge. I’ve been teaching this class for a while now and have got to know the students really well. It gives me a chance to try out new teaching ideas and review whether they would make good workshops / projects to teach anywhere else. My current “weaving” classes are working so well, it’s not weaving with wool but with fabric.
Its a one day a month Creative Textiles Class
Here is a photo of a bag I made as a teaching sample
Next month we will be continuing ….I’ll hopefully be able to post the results of the class
In about July of this year I made a few simple quilts based on the folk costume in Poland featuring the carved wooden birds seen in the shops in Poland with backgrounds inspired by the folk costume. They proved really popular at festival of Quilts so I have made 2 much larger quilts.
Teaching at the various shows is a challenge. Trying to come up with something that is possible to make in one hour and providing a kit for all students takes some planning.
Here are a couple of the projects for teaching at Karlsruhe in Germany in May
We also have to get organised for teaching at Festival of Quilts in August now.
I have designed 2 small projects which I am considering
A coaster using my Interchange Applique technique
and a needle case using the same technique
No time for using the machine but can be stitched at home
What do you think?
