I found out a couple of weeks ago that a parcel co I found out a couple of weeks ago that a parcel containing 6 of my quilts that has quilts that were displayed at the quilt show in Brno was lost.
I have tried to convince myself that it will eventually turn up
I’m sure it will
Yesterday I realised why I have temporarily lost my mojo for making quilts
Of course, it’s the lost quilts that’s caused it
With a few weeks at home I decided to make a few new clothes with fabric that I’ve been meaning to use for months
My Mexican top was made with fabric from India. I designed a block inspired by floral images seen on the clothes in the museum in Valladolid in Mexico. Fiona had it made, and then the fabric was printed in India. I made the pattern from a top I bought on Vinted
Adding some hand stitching to the fabric would look good
Come to Mexico with us next year to be inspired
There’s only one space left

I also made a top using fabric from Vietnam
It’s the Zoe Kimono top - excellent instructions

8 years ago I used to walk to the top of the hill, 8 years ago I used to walk to the top of the hill, it was very therapeutic.
I’ve walked many times since then.

Our moors are still relatively green and the heather a lovely purple colour
So much has happened in 8 years.

They have been my textiles diary for so long.
I’ve made them to remember all the places I’ve travelled to, for teaching and holiday
I’ve made them to occupy my mind when life was tough
I’ve made them to test out new techniques and in the early days I think I made them to keep me sane when I seemed to do a lot of cooking for the family

They are all very precious
So many memories

I think they should be displayed somewhere
Where?
Once labelled correctly I’ll do some reels

Looking forward to a couple of weeks in my studio, Looking forward to a couple of weeks in my studio, making plans, seeing friends and family, tidying up and maybe some new work
This year at FOQ I realised that I’ve been going This year at FOQ I realised that I’ve been going to the show for at least 20 years.
I looked through my photos and found the 3D flowers that I won a first prize for in about 2010, and then found the flower kits i sold all those years ago. I re read some of the words again.
Lots has happened in those last 20 years
My love of textiles hasn’t changed nor has my love of travel and friendships remain
We learnt so much in making those kits

This year I had a few people saying that I should start making more flower kits.
Maybe I should do a little bit of flower teaching next year? If anyone wants me to please message me

The first question I usually get asked when teachi The first question I usually get asked when teaching painting on clothes is
“How do you wash it”
Here are 2 of the tops I wore at Festival of Quilts washed and on the line.
Hand washed in cool water using a cold water gel. I’ve had the tube of gel wash for years but I’m sure it’s easy to buy
No fading, no bleeding
Looking forward to embroidering and painting more and wearing at the next quilt event
Maybe I’ll teach a simple version at Festival of Quilts next year but before then I am teaching in Mexico in March with Creative Arts Safaris

Festival of Quilts is over for another year, and a Festival of Quilts is over for another year, and already I miss seeing all the fabulous pieces of art work and all the lovely people I’ve met up and the students I’ve taught. I didn’t get around to photographing my classes until the last day, and then it looks like they were concentrating so much and not having much fun. There’s so many amazing quilts on show and so many items of clothing I want to make that it always feels hard to get going on return.

How can I photograph my latest wall hanging?
It’s 3m long and 15cm wide
It’s still very much a work in progress
I try to make a fabric sketchbook or scroll for each of my exciting travel trips

Every Camino is special but this was especially fun, the weather was amazing and the walking easy.
Most of all I met such fabulous people

I’m trying to develop new ways of working that will make the technique easier to teach, more successful for students and more importantly quicker. Today I’ve been using acrylic pens, inktense blocks and Golden Arcylic paint. I’ve even added some hand stitching
Can’t do any more this week as it’s Festival of Quilts
As always, so many happy memories

Another picture of me, this time I’m promoting o Another picture of me, this time I’m promoting one of my classes at Festival of Quilts.
The 8.30am classes are always difficult to fill.
The class I’m teaching is how to paint using quilt block stencils. The centre block on my top, I’ve appliquéd the motif, but the blocks either side have been painted. We will discuss what type of paint to use, how to apply it etc and the class kit comes with with 2 plastic stencils to take home
Anyone interested in getting up early to attend this class?

Today I’m getting ready for Festival of Quilts n Today I’m getting ready for Festival of Quilts next week. It’s an opportunity to wear some of the clothes I’ve made since last year.
I’ve been painting and stitching clothes this year and now I have many to choose from. Here are 3 blouses - there’s more.
All have been bought on Vinted. It’s so much easier than wandering lots of charity shops
I shouldn’t have said that as maybe now i will have less choice
If you want to learn how to paint and carry out the stitching I’ll be teaching this in Mexico next year. There are only a couple a places left so you may have to make a quick decision to come and join us
We will be stitching with some Mexican women too so it should be fun

I’ve carried a small bag of Will’s ashes 800km I’ve carried a small bag of Will’s ashes 800kms along the Camino Frances, to sprinkle them in the sea at Finnisterre
Not just a long walk but a Camino, surrounded by very special people
Days have started early and I have walked many thousands of steps each day, sometimes on my own, sometimes with inspiring people.
I’ve had many meaningful conversations, drunk lots of wine and eaten good food
I’ve slept in so many excellent Albergue’s and a few I want to forget.
I’ve walked through many different changing landscapes and taken many photographs
I’ve carried my own bag and have no blisters and no aching legs
I hope I’ve been an inspiration to the many people who have very politely asked how old I am
And as Katie said at Wills funeral
“Will you are a reminder to us all to live every day as if it might be your last, travel this beautiful planet, befriend young and old, whatever their background and never ever stop smiling”

It was another early start in the dark, I’m very grateful for a good head torch. We had a great communal pilgrim dinner last night We had a great communal pilgrim dinner last night and after a couple of hours were politely told to leave as they wanted to clear up.

I set off this morning at just before 5 and walked with Roberta from the USA so the time passed quickly.
The path divides, a shorter route to Sarria, or a longer one via Samos to visit the monastery
I’m not sure what I was thinking when I opted for the longer route as I had already agreed to walk a long way to an Alberge with a swimming pool
Arriving at the monastery at 10 for a guided tour I was the only person. I had such a laugh with the monk as he kept on trying to speak to me in Spanish, I’ve no Spanish and he had no English. I really wanted to see the paintings in the monastery and I wasn’t disappointed although I really now need to research what the paintings say.
It’s a pity I didn’t get a picture of my guide smiling
I walked to Sarria with Lisa from Canada and Jackie from the UK and then on to the Alberge
A very long but fun day
So many fabulous new friends including my guide, recalling the story of my guide and the monastery Lisa said “he sounds too cute to not procreate”

The Camino is so much fun

Maybe I walked 39 or 40 kms today, who knows, with such good company it didn’t seem it.
