A week in France, followed by a week at home seem to have flown by.
My husband picked me up, after my Australia adventure, at Heathrow and we drove to Villefranche- sur – Saone where I had an exhibition. I changed my exhibition a little and added a couple of my new “Birds” quilts. They seemed to be really popular with the French quilters.
The exhibition was quite difficult and time consuming to put up as the quilts all need batons and then chains to be hung from clips at the top of the boards.
Here are some photos.
There were a few English speaking visitors but as I don’t speak French it was difficult at times. I enjoyed watching visitors taking hundreds of photos of my quilts. It did make me wonder what they are going to do with so many photos.
I didn’t have any hand stitching with me as any extra things had to posted from Australia so I bought a 1 euro piece of white felt, 4 euro piece of blue felt and 50 cents worth of thread. I stitched this based on some photos I took of the pots in Mexico.
The felt was really horrid compared to the lovely 100% wool felt I usually use.
It was a long car journey home.
I received a copy of the article Jane Rae had written about me in Today’s Quilter. Jane spent a day with me, she didn’t take any notes, we just chatted and I took her round our area. She is so talented to be able to write so well. Everyone I have spoken to have said how much they have enjoyed reading it.
Since being back at home I have so enjoyed the beautiful weather, being out on my bike, walking the hills, and been to, almost daily, my combat classes that I love.
I’ve taught a few classes locally and had an interesting study day at Bankfield Museum looking at more of the Edith Durham Collection. Some of her drawings are fabulous.
The exhibition will open towards the end of November.
I will be teaching a couple of workshops at the Museum but not until Spring 2019.
And here’s a few very small Journal Quilts I have made in amongst doing masses of admin.
And here is the table runner I made as a teaching sample for a Mediteranean Cruise in June 2019
