It’s been a few weeks since I last wrote a blog post, partly because I was having problems with my blog, but I hope it’s all sorted now. Life is full of ups and downs at the moment
It would have been Will’s birthday last week so it was a hard week. I am doing a few things that help me to get through difficult times.
A received a card this week with these words.
I have always done lots of exercise and I really do think it helps body and soul and helps me to sleep better. I have a new bike and am enjoying being out on it when the sun shines. It’s so hilly where I live that even a short ride is hard work. I do my body combat classes and did a park run on Saturday, a personal best and first in my age group – Halifax doesn’t have a huge turnout.
The 3 peaks walk was a fabulous day, there were 80 of us that walked and lots who helped. There was a great atmosphere, we all tried to forget the sadness and enjoy the fresh air, the beautiful scenery and the good company. We have raised more than £11,000 that now needs to be allocated to support organisations that we know Will would have liked.
We are planning a big cycle ride next year
Halifax to Aylesbury
200 miles over 4 days
If you want to join in or are willing to come to support us please let me know
It is only a fun raising event if you want to – it’s about getting together to do something that Will would have liked to do
We have set up a closed Will Travis memorial closed Facebook page. Please ask to be invited if you want to find out more info
I have lots of work commitments and am managing to do them ok, possibly with a little less energy than I would normally have done. I enjoy teaching so don’t want to stop. I have so many friends all over the World and want to keep seeing them.
I taught my Interchange Applique at the Contemporary Quilt Group Summer School, lovely venue, nice students, and some great results.
I taught for 3 days at Midsomer Quilting near Chilcompton. If you are passing it is really worth visiting their new premises. They have a great selection of fabrics and there is a good cafe next door.
I am excited that i will be going back to teach at AQC in Australia in April. I had so much fun there last year, and met so many lovely people. I have 4 one day classes. The workshops have not been released yet but watch out for them.
I made a new sample quilt for one of the classes last week.
Emus on an Australian coloured background. I used fabric that i bought at MQ – it is using a graded Gelato fabric and fabric I bought whilst in Melbourne.
I have made a few more Journal Quilts and have more unfinished.
One a week takes a lot of keeping up with, they are quick to make and only small 7′ x 9″
Yesterday I walked up to one of one of my favourite local places – difficult to believe it is in the middle of the UK
A couple of weeks at home is great to catch up but I am looking forward to a few days away at the end of the month
The classes for Australia are now on line. So if you are an Australian Quilter and need more info just email me
I’m looking forward to my return trip in April
